And so I watched the movie for the nth time. What can I say? The movie gets to me. Of course it helps that I see Kelly Preston in a sundress wearing boots.

Clinton
I'm watching the Democratic National Convention where Bill Clinton is delivering a speech. Galing talaga. Why can't we have speeches like this here? It's all about platform. Anak ng jueteng, dito puro siraan at sayawan. Haaaayyyy... Monday, July 26, 2004

I've always had a bias for clean pages. So here I go again. One more round of cleansing for my blog. Sunday, July 25, 2004
30 in 30:
I stopped the program. This slimming thing is harder than I thought. Actually, it's just on-hold because of a few things outside my control. Nonethless I've been exercising and eating right. Sometimes the process is just as important as the end. Wednesday, July 21, 2004
30 in 30 Day 4:
I was barely breathing by the time I finished my one round and AS. Mental note: I can't sprint all the way from Admin. I am extremely sad. Someone bought my car. This is all too surreal for me. Tuesday, July 20, 2004
30 in 30 Day 3:
Jogging with a friend is a refreshing change. There is, however, a tradeoff in terms of insights. So far so good. One round and PHAN. Monday, July 19, 2004
30 in 30 Day 2:
I hardly made it past the first round. I think my legs need more rest. Tomorrow will be better. Sunday, July 18, 2004
30 in 30 Day 1:
And so I renew my quest for physical respectability. Thirty pounds in 30 days will surely be challenging but then again aiming for a sureshot is not a worthy vision. Highlights: 1) A well built, no-panty-lined woman overtook me. Lesson: physical limitations can hinder even male pride. 2) There was a guy using the heavy steel car barricade as weights. I was tempted to give it a lift no doubt, but prudence overtook me. (wow I get overtaken a lot) 3) UP, while drizzling at sunset, reminded me of a rainforest. Saturday, July 17, 2004
Google Dance
Hey, hey, webmasters around the world must be at the edge of their seats now. The regular, yet unpredictable Google Dance has begun.
Favorite Adjectives
I was just wondering I guess. Why are books always devoured? It just sounds so violent. Wednesday, July 14, 2004
Spammers
I've been meaning to talk about the movie For the Love of the Game. I will, however, put that off for at least a day. At this time I will talk about spammers. No doubt we can regonize these characters when they send us e-mail about Viagra or Hard Core Pics. Notably, perhaps as a direct result of being oversexed, they always misspell one thing or another. I have a lot of experience with spammers. My main Yahoo! account after all, receives about 200 such mails per day. But there is another type of spammer: the guestbook spammer. How can you distinguish one? Do a Google search on link:http://cimplicity.net/. You'll notice that majority of the site's backlinks are from Guestbooks. Without doing this, however, I can already tell. I'm not such an innocent Netizen after all. There was a time when I wasn't such a nethical person. ;-) But enough about me. So how is guestbook spamming done? How do you find guestbooks? How do you select which one to spam? It's simple actually. Let's use Dreambook as an example. Just do a Google search on site:dreambook.com. That step serves two purposes: you find lots of sites and you find the ones that are highly ranked. Notice if you visit the sites on the first page of the search results that these are PR5 and PR4 sites. Read the entries. Mostly they'll butter up the webmaster with comments like, "nice site!" The point in commenting of course is to place their links. Visit http://books.dreambook.com/togores/guestbook.html and see exactly what I mean. What I do with my guestbook is to aggressively edit out the URLs if I believe these are just spam entries. Moreover, I ban the IP addresses. I'm nasty aren't I? More to come...
Blogshares
The concept of that Blogshares site is cool. Not only can you get your blog listed in the directory, you can also have its shares listed in the blog stock market. For example, Mental Notes is listed here. This of course appeals especially to a stock market person like myself. Try it out. Maybe I should rename my blog BW Resources just for fun Tuesday, July 13, 2004
As you can see from my post just before this, I've been rather busy registering with various directories. It's a nice thing to be updating a site once in a while. It's also nice to be found. I'll add a few more directories that you, the audience, can also use as reference if you're in the mood to be registering your site.

Pinaghugasan
I fancy myself as an environmentalist. This is reflected in a host of things that I do. A quirky example is the way I save water. After drinking Tang or eating ice cream from my glass, I usually add water again without washing my glass. I drink that regularly, not because I particularly enjoy the pinaghugasan taste, but because I don't want to waste water when I have no problem drinking that "mix". That's water-saving tip # 1. ---- Mental Notes can be found here Thursday, July 08, 2004
eGroup & Porn
For the longest time, the homepage of our eGroup was adorned by this babe:
Well I figured, it's about time we changed that picture to something that's actually relevant to the group. Funny thing is, over the years we've encountered people who actually asked to join the group. I suspect they believed that it was a porn eGroup. I'm not denying that either by the way. Incidentally, if you look at the eGroup, you'll see that it was actually created when it was still called eGroups. It was founded in Aug 10, 1999. Find 10 groups older than that and I'll give you a prize. Anyway, as for this poor girl, I never did find out who she is. I-report nga sa bantay bata. Wednesday, July 07, 2004
Notebooks
I was just chatting with Hazel of Kuwaderno. It was nice and pleasant. But all of a sudden, my computer started bugging. I reckon it was a memory problem. Suddenly I heard in the background, quite eerily if I may add, in a haunting and strangely familiar tone... "Not enough vitamins..." That "acheche!" moment was brought to you by Centrum

Argentina my Foot
Irrelevant! Ewan. Ewan ko talaga." ...itutuloy
Before Sunset
I just found out from Random Rambling that there is a sequel to Before Sunrise, the movie that inspired me to tour Europe. ;-) Read her blog too. She writes well. Monday, July 05, 2004
Underwear
My friend Farmer Donna and I were discussing my soon to be line of underwear: it will have a signature design of birds and will be called The Pelican Brief The tagline would be, "Every brief you take, every bird you break." She subsequently said that she will disown me. I don't buy it. ;-)
Hugh Grant
His legacy includes making brits look queer and the increased use of the word 'bloke' My friend Erika said that I'll be a broke bloke if I ever become poor
If I were President...
I will not legalize jueteng. It is argued that legalization will help get rid of all the bookies and gambling lords. But then again taxes are legal and that legality has not helped root out corruption in the system. I might just promote the Parliamentary System if only it will serve to reverse the tide of people with no credentials and experience trying to run for the highest position in the land. I would, however, recognize that any system is only as good as the people running it. I would not irresponsibly call for reconciliation because of shocking implications: that Jose Pidal never existed, that Lacson was never a drug lord, that Honasan never instigated all the past coups, and that Imelda & company never stole billions of pesos. Reconciliation is fit for parties with ideological differences, not for criminals. Sunday, July 04, 2004
Taxation
There are three basic objectives of taxation: 1) the provision of revenues for government expenditures, 2) the achievement of socially desirable goals, and 3) economic stabilization. Saturday, July 03, 2004

Dilemma
I'm a lucky guy. The biggest decision that I have to make these days is which NBA team I will go with next year. During the past season of course, I stuck with the high-scoring Kings, the blue collar Pistons, and to certain extent the reinforced Timberwolves. The Magic just traded T-Mac, Howard and some others to the Rockets for two shoot-first guards Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley. Imagine T-Mac with Yao Ming. I should try that combo in NBA Live. The Magic on the other hand will probably fall even further. Although Steve Francis is a 15-5-5 player, I just don't like him. He dribbles the clock too much. The Cat, on the other hand, is a shot-a-holic in my opinion. Speaking of shot-a-holics, will someone please trade Allen Iverson. He's getting too old for his own maturity level. |
