After weeks of wondering whether or not my mango seeds survived the planting process, I took a closer look. Above ground, there's absolutely nothing going on. One remained green but "seedy"; the other looked pale dead. But hey, maybe there was something going on beneath the soil. I carefully tried to comb the soil away from both seeds. I gently tried to pull the seeds out from the ground. I couldn't! In both cases, there was a root!
So maybe my planting episode was not a complete failure. But in checking for the root, I may have shocked the young system of my seeds. Oh well. Maybe they'll survive; maybe not. At least now I know, I at least got them to root.
I'll still eat more mangoes just to improve my statistical chances of growing a big mango tree.

Sounds like you've had quite a journey with your mangoes! :P My mom really likes to grow different thing, mainly edible things like grape tomatoes and spinach. With all the bad weather we've gotten this month where I live (Richmond, VA), I don't know what all is surviving out there right now!
