ISP Customer Service Ranking

The other day, we lost Internet connection in the house.  Usually, it takes a DSL modem reset or two to fix the problem.  By afternoon, I decided to call Bayantel to report the problem.  Guess what?  I think I just had to press one number to get customer service.  In comparison, you'd need about 3-4 choices before getting someone from Globe or Smart.  Even better, someone answered my call within two minutes.  Imagine that.  Here's the best part, in less than ten minutes, I had my Internet connection back.  Kudos to Bayantel!

So here's my Philippine Internet Service Provider (ISP) customer service ranking:

1. Bayantel - consistently good
2. Globe - crappy, but made amends
3. Smart - crappy thieves!

KFC CHICKEN SHRINKING!

I'm not sure if the KFC in The Block SM North EDSA is a franchise or is company owned, but get a load of these one piece chicken meals.   It's not hard to tell what's wrong, right?  The chicken piece is barely bigger than the gravy container and looks smaller than the cup of rice!  How sad is that?  I love KFC as much as the next guy, but this is a rip-off!  It's not as blatant as Smart Bro's thievery, but it's pretty disappointing.  The piece is barely bigger than the spoon!  Augh!   What happened to you KFC???

Globe Telecom Tattoo: The Tradition of Bad Customer Service Continues

Remember my problems with Globe before?  Guess what?  It's still not over.  Sigh.  You know, back when I was supporting Xbox, we had a term called "Hot Mail": that's when a customer e-mails a high ranking Microsoft employee directly.  Those issues are given supervisor level priority.  Hmmm...gotta find me one of those for Globe.

So here's my mea culpa: I keep patronizing them.  Kick me please.

Globe Telecom: My Three Weeks of Bad Customer Service

Let me tell you what I need to happen with my Globe Handyphone accounts.  You tell me if it's simple or complicated.
  • Phone Number 1 (PN1) - I paid P2,500 when I meant to do it for Phone Number 2 (PN2).  In effect, this account has a credit balance / overpayment.  PN1 is under my dad's name.
  • What I want to happen is to zero out the balance of PN1 and transfer whatever overpayment there was to PN2.  According to the first customer service representative (CSR) that I talked to, this was possible.
  • I want to close PN1 and just keep PN2.

Civic Duty

Here's basically where I stand. I am interested in consumer empowerment because I believe that many times, merchants offering goods and services do not offer enough customer service.

How do we address that?

Well, I suppose it starts with consumer education. We have to know which companies/establishments are trying to cheat us or at least give us the short end of the deal. Through dissemination of such information, we can then pass informed judgement on such establishments.

Who knows where that leads right? Hopefully, it will pressure the organization to get its act together.

What kind of complaints should we post?

Anything at all. It can be a company that violates laws. It can be an establishment that offers lousy service. You have a complaint against a company. Just post it here.

On a personal level, I will try to contact the company and prompt them on the issues being raised against them. Hopefully, they will give a satisfactory response. Otherwise, we can figure out which regulatory agency is responsible for correcting such company's ill-advised practices.

Let us begin! Click on that POST A COMPLAINT link on the top left part of the page.

About the Web Master...

He hasn't been getting any sleep lately, except during his trip to and from the office, and of course during office hours. At least it's finally Friday. I can go out and have fun and finally be rid of these worksheets bugging my mind. Ah yes, maybe I can even look forward to Saturday morning tennis. Ah life. It's such a pleasure isn't it?
