Basket Lanes

There's a reason why basket lanes were designed. Shoppers who are buying only a few items should be able to go and in out of the grocery very quickly. But why are there basket cases (pun intended) that fill their basket with a truckload of items and yet insist on lining up in express lanes? Ahh the things we do to get ahead.

PREEMPTED

allow me to tell you of my minor tragedy
of this girl who quaintly sat right beside me

of how words swelled in my mouth yet remained unspoken
how my heart braced, yet remained unbroken

i'm a fairly average guy, who goes with the flow
but if a moment approached me, i'll take it i know

it started as an idea, but grew as i explored
the next thing i know, she was someone i adored

a someone worth knowing, a thought worth delving on
feminine, vulnerable, the type to which i'm drawn

our lively conversations, were blessed with wit and charm
it was actually quite cheesy, how these made me feel warm

so courage i gathered, the right moment must await
for me to speak my mind, for me to dictate my fate

but on the side i propogated fantasies you imbued
not your kings and queens, but perhaps something more subdued

but these were all without merit, i discovered in time
"You are mine. You are mine." was someone else's line

so nipped in the bud, this romance came years too late
why didn't you sense me coming? why couldn't you wait?

though words remain unspoken and the days that pass are long
if we ran into each other, you'd say nothing was wrong

of course not you silly girl, cause you don't suspect a thing
isn't this amusing? this line rhymes with 'fling'.

but no, we'll have no discussions along that line
well, perhaps except if we have a little too much wine

knowing what's right and wrong, a part still wants to declare
in a tragic way, i guess it's my comfort if you're aware

it's that chance to catch a hint of malice in your eye
or to read all sorts of signals with your solitary sigh

don't think me pathetic, you see this girl makes sense
you don't find that too often, i'm caught up hence

she has a cause, she has a calling, these rare traits i found
and that vulnerable voice of hers is my favorite sound

but lest i let my imagination again escape
and in your head this woman's face takes shape

let me pause for this day, allow me this discretion
just know that one day, her heart will have my impression

Black Eyed Peas & Congress

Hey, aren't the Black Eyed Peas coming to town? Here's an idea. Let's get them to sing in Congress with a special dedication to Digaden Dingaling when they sing "Shut Up". hehehe

I'm watching ANC right now. They're interviewing Cong. Escudero on the phone. He seems to be able to explain himself very clearly. When I watched him on tv the other day, he seemed to be grandstanding though when he was addressing Congress.

Way to go Teddy Boy. Call them all silly! Dang silly arguments. Don't forget the dirty finger.

The KFC Burger

I watch NBA on Solar Sports all the time. Half the commercials are for that new KFC Burger with the other half being the Mister Donut Sulit Commercial. Here is my quick observation regarding the former. Notice how hard the lead character tries to hold the burger with both hands. I say hard because it's almost impossible to use all ten fingers. There's just no space. It's also angled so that we'll see the broad side. Tsk tsk.

Allow me to digress a bit. How come even if you lick your girlfriend, others will still attempt to taste her? This should be the start of the series, "Why girlfriends are better than burgers..."

Paid Surveys

I honestly don't know anyone who has made money from this. Personally, I think there's something here. Scams simply do not last long and have not much outside support. Allow me to present the evidence. These sites have hundreds of link backs according to Google and are rated highly according to Alexa. They make use of a third-party credit card processor Clickbank. I haven't seen negative write-ups. But then again, as stock brokers always say, do your own research.

I haven't really heard any stock broker say that, but it seems to be in character. So there.

The Count

They're still debating on how the count should proceed in Congress. It seems that everytime I watch a Congressional session, I hear congressmen nitpicking about words, always seemingly unmindful of the time and effort spent in the process. This type of behavior clearly represents the a case of "seeing the trees and not the forest".

Perhaps someone more forceful should preside. I see this type of behavior in my MBA classes all the time. There will never be a lack of students who recite merely for the sake of it. There will always be students who have no points to raise, only words to say. Once in a while though, there will be a professor who takes no crap and puts such students in their proper places (outside the room). Maybe the speaker of the house should do this.

Here's a thought. Maybe we can vote off grandstanding congressmen much like its done on American Idol. ;-)

Blogger Improvements

I am certainly glad that new templates have been made available by Blogger. This is no doubt a testament to the growing number of bloggers who lack the creativity and talent to make their own designs (such as me).

With this blog's look drastically improved (check Alexa if they have copies of the past design), I may just end up writing more. Watch out for that. The world could always use another person with an opinion.

This Election

I voted for Bro. Eddie. He has a platform, has a track record of proven leadership, is competent and morally upright. It was a no-brainer considering the other candidates.

GMA is a waste. She had a fairly positive reputation when she first ran as senator. From a top choice to a lesser evil - how does that happen in a matter of years. There's Mike Arroyo being so involved. There are the relatives that keep running (political dynasties symbolize the trapo that we all abhor). There's the lack of political will (whatever happened to the rebellion charges against the EDSA III Sugod proponents?) Lastly, there's the shameless behavior like backing down on her word and all those pseudo-public service ads.

Lacson has a number of good points. He's straight, disciplined and forceful. But then again, he's a rumored executioner and that's just something I'm not willing to overlook. I'm betting a lot more people would have voted for him had that not been an issue.

Roco had my vote in the past by virtue of his competence and speaking ability. Unfortunately, he's positioned like Bro. Eddie and the latter has a cleaner image. What destroyed Roco for me was his association with Danding Cojuangco and the Coco Levy bruhaha.

FPJ is a no-brain. hahahaha. If he wins, well those who voted for him can have him. The rest of us will be booked on the next flight out of here.
